Gaming Laptop

Postby Phoenix on Mon Jun 10, 2013 2:19 pm

Hi all I am going to get a gaming laptop just wondering if anyone had any ideas about what I should get in their opinion.

I think my budget will be anywhere between 800 - 1000.

I will then use this laptop for the foreseaable future. Doesn't matter about screen size too much would be happy with a 15" as Ian always plug into another monitor in the future.

Hello mate - this is where I got my beast several years ago:

Not sure what they are like these days but they have a good reputation and have been around for years.

This is the other one I've been looking at getting -
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/156-msi- ... 8gb-(2x4gb)-ddr3-750gb-hdd-2gb-gtx-660m-gpu-dvdrw-

Don't know peoples thoughts on that but the spec looked alright however there is one on novatech thats like 999 which has a lot better spec but it looks a bit ugly if you ask me :P!

That MSI one has Windows 8, which I'd avoid if I was you. It's just not very intuitive to use if you are a long-standing Windows user.

Worth noting that the Novatech one doesn't come with an OS (so extra cost there) but at least you can pick what you want. The Novatech one can also be customised quite a bit which is cool.

I have windows 7 owned im sure i can transfer it. I know it has windows 8 i was thinking of adding / formatting it to windows 7 and maybe just keeping the windows 8 as a backup if i needed to learn it or anything like that for work.

I will look into this further :)
