New CSS Beta update

Postby JaFFaCake on Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:57 am

Just saw the new update, they are finally fixing the smokes! They will smoke up faster and thicker, and you won't be able to hide in them and see people anymore. This is just on the beta atm though, hope it comes before lan!

Yep its going to be dire. No tactical one way smoke placements for example, and it is such an advantage for people waiting on the other side of the smoke for you to come through its untrue.

Smoke placement was such a tactical part of the game, shame they have to do this :P

So why not lay down 5 smokes, bait a push and go the other way? Has + and - sides to it I guess.

Yeah but, you kinda forget that in 1.6 and cz, you couldn't hide in smokes, tbh i think its about time it's fixed and people use smokes for the real reasons, stopping other people seeing, not hiding in.

It will make it easier to use smokes, wont have to wait as long for them to smoke up. And it will still be tactical.

1.6 is 1.6, source is source. dont understand why they think going to the mechanics of a game that was made like 10 10 years ago is a good idea. Would rather they make th smooks bloom out and disperse rather than get fixed to a very tidy ball

generally speaking you cant see through smoke one way and not another IRL... so making it more realistic tbh

I am just waiting for the exploding bloodpack suits

Im undecided on this 1...

Making the game a better reflection on how things would occur IRL sounds fantastic... But as we know change always comes at a cost with source - the cost usually is about a million bugs that take a few patches to iron out.

I'm hoping that this time they keep it on beta for a long while and minimize the disrubtion they will cause the competitve scene.

I dare say in time that we will find that it affects nVidia differently from ATI. These things always do with CSS

Think the new smokes are sick, I take back all my criticism. They are immense. Smoke apps, jump wuad kill everyone. I have broken the game.
